Members find motivation by sharing their weight loss with others
WA-RITE
Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. For support on a weight-loss journey, women are welcome to stop by at 8:15 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.
On March 6, members learned that the club lost an impressive 29.5 pounds for the past week. Bev Bender was named the biggest loser with a 2.5-pound loss. Bender said she exercised more, and ate early dinner, lots of apples and carrots, and less food in general.
The speaker of the day was Henrietta Peavy, who said that most women’s magazines focus on one topic—trying new diets and finding the one that works. She said they emphasize the same thing—eat more protein and less carbs, exercise, and try meditation. Other weight loss suggestions included intermittent fasting, which worked for some members, eating two meals a day, and portion control at potlucks.
The weekly food for thought was: “No matter how far the scale goes, we can learn from our experiences and share them with others.”
