First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

Pastor Chris “Shorty” Cherryholmes will be the guest speaker on Sunday, Feb. 8. He is the son of Pastor Gene Cherryholmes who pastored at First Christian Church for 17 years. Pastor Chris will start a monthly series of preaching from the book of James.

James was authored by the half-brother of Jesus. He was not among the 12 chosen disciples as James was reluctant to believe Jesus was the messiah sent by God. After Jesus rose from the dead, he appeared to James and changed everything. James would become a pillar of the new church and a friend to Peter and Paul.

James wrote one New Testament book, which is a letter that outlines for believers how the daily walk with the Lord is accomplished by relying on his word, including a verse that is foundational to every Christian’s faith, “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above,” James 1:27.
