Wa-Rite: Weight loss journey starts with a mindset change

Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:45 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.

On Dec. 19, members learned that the club lost 19.5 pounds for the week. Joy Nasser and Judy Chambers were named the biggest losers with a 3.5-pound loss each. They both credited their achievements to being more active. Nasser also said that she enjoys riding her bike in the community, which helps with weight loss and doesn’t feel like an exercise. Nasser also won another short-term goal and was rewarded $10. The club members get $10 for every 10 pounds lost.

The meeting was also a sharing day for members to share what they’re grateful for, as well as tips and suggestions to help stay on track during the holidays. Some of them include using a small plate and consuming smaller portions, eating sensibly, and celebrating every stepping stone of the weight loss journey. All the members agreed that the Wa-Rite Club feels like a sisterhood and unites everyone like a family.

The weekly food for thought was: “Your life is as good as your mindset.”
