The Wa-Rite Club welcomes new members into its wellness family
Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:45 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.
Members lost 7 pounds for the week of Oct. 3. Linda Rich and Bea Quintano tied for the biggest loser title with a half-pound loss each. But as President Judy Chambers says: “A half a pound each week equals 25 pounds a year!” Rich said that she fasted all day due to the Jewish New Year, Yom Kippur, plus she followed her diet and drank a lot of water.
The club also gained three new members who learned about this weight loss community from LW Weekly articles.
Joy Nasser was named a queen of the month. She lost 5.5 pounds and said riding her electric bicycle and giving up snacks help her stay on track.
Club members lost a total of 37.5 pounds for the month and the three members who lost the most weight were: Joy Nasser, 5.5 pounds; Bea Quintano, 4.5; and Linda Rich, 4. The members attending every week with no weight gain were Shirlene Bradrick, Linda Rich and Ruth Stewart. After a year, Quintano achieved her bachelor’s degree for reaching her goal weight.
The weekly food for thought was: “I celebrate progress, no matter how small.”
