Cochlear implants, the benefits, and how to get them

HEARING LOSS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA

Cochlear implants (CI) will be the topic of a two-part series by the Long Beach/Lakewood Chapter of Hearing Loss Association of America. On Oct. 9, part one will explain what a CI is, its benefits and how to get a medical referral. On Nov. 13, part two will cover the surgery and activation of implants.

Both meetings will start with videos by internet audiologist Dr. Cliff Olsen, Au. D., followed by discussion and questions. Each meeting will run from 4-5 p.m. at the Weingart Center, at 5200 Oliva Ave., Lakewood.

Meetings are captioned, free and open to the public, and provide a friendly place to share questions, find solutions and learn about technology that makes living with hearing loss easier.
