This month the America First Republican Club will not hold its regularly scheduled meeting on the third Wednesday of the month. Instead, the club will celebrate its growing membership with a member appreciation picnic on Saturday, Sept. 20, from noon-4 p.m. at the Clubhouse 1 picnic area.
Orange County Supervisor Janet Nguyen will give club members an update of current events at the Board of Supervisors. Mayor and current Huntington Beach City Council member, Gracey Van Der Mark, who is running for the 72nd California Assembly District, will also speak.
Members will also be entertained by former club president Donald Horning’s band, the Coconut Breeze. Board member Anne Calvo has also planned some political-themed games and board member Darlene Boyce gathered great prizes for the winners.
The well-known “Taco Tuesday” Food Truck is being rented by the club for the occasion to provide the main entrees of hamburgers and tacos. Side dishes will also be provided like macaroni salad, coleslaw, baked beans, tossed salad, etc. Drinks will also be provided and members are encouraged to bring their favorite dessert to share.
Members should RSVP by 6 p.m. by Wednesday, Sept. 17 to Hope Horning by text or leave a voicemail at 714-833-1654 or by emailing HopeKHorning@gmail.com with “PICNIC” in the subject line.
The club’s information booth will be set up on Monday, Sept. 15 outside Clubhouse 6 from 9-11 a.m. Members host the booth and informally chat about current events and issues of concern with people who stop by.
