Joyful Line Dance: dancers of all levels are welcome
The Joyful Line Dance Club meets on Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon in Clubhouse 2. The club divides its classes into two parts with a brief break in between.
Albert Comia leads the first hour of the class with easy-tofollow dances, such as “Elvira,” “Achy Breaky Heart,” “Tennessee Waltz,” “Jo ‘n’ Jo Tango,” “Chilly Cha Cha,” “New York, New York” and more. All the dances are done at a similar pace, but to different music.
Karen Kei teaches intermediate to advanced routines and introduces a new line dance monthly for members to practice for the next four weeks.
People are welcome to stay for the two-hour class or just attend the first or second half of it. The club has seen growing interest in line dancing and encourages those who enjoy dancing to join it. With regular attendance and practice, people can improve their line dancing skills in a matter of 2-3 months, according to Comia.
Exercise shoes are advised; no flip flops or sandals. Everyone who wants to attend, must register first. The membership is $20 per calendar year.
