Art League: Spotlight on the Artist Reception

Three times a year, the LW Art League spotlights member artists in a casual, open house event, allowing residents the opportunity to meet local artists and view their art firsthand. The next reception is Saturday, July 26, from 1-3 p.m. The event will feature artwork by Mary Guymon, a graduate of California State University, Dominguez Hills’ Studio Art program. Her paintings have been featured in exhibitions, galleries and private collections throughout California.

She works in oil, acrylic, enamel, and latex on canvas, and draws her inspiration from the paintings of abstract expressionist Franz Kline. “I simply respond to what happens when I apply paint to the canvas,” Guymon said. “Color and texture define my work.”

The event is free for LW residents and their guests.
