Many people love to sing the patriotic songs that unites people in the mutual love of country. But this year, there is a sadness that casts a shadow over the state of the nation. Believers must first go to the word of God for perspective, like in Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” and in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

These two scriptures call God’s people to turn to and to humble themselves before God. These verses reveal God’s way to get people on the path to humility. Approaching God in prayer is a great start in becoming humble.

God is calling believers to pray. People fall so short of knowing how to live in a way that pleases God, but when they bring their lives before God in prayer, they are saying that they are dependent upon him.

2 Chronicles also commands that believers “seek his face.” Psalm 14:2 is a sad commentary on the Lord longing for men to seek him: “The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.”

Faith Christian Assembly encourages believers to be people who re-commit to seeking the Lord. Seek him now, seek him later today, seek him tonight, seek him tomorrow, and always.
