The solution to this week’s puzzle: White moves first. The White rook moves from h3 to h6, then the Black king moves to h6. The White queen goes to g7, followed by the Black rook to g7. The next move by White is checkmate. The LW Chess Club meets on Fridays from 1-6 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 7. Beginners are welcome for a free lesson.

Let the Good Times Roll


The doo wop club Let the Good Times Roll will present its “American Bandstand”-themed show on Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 2. The show is sure to bring back fun music and dance memories from the ’50s and ’60s. The club invites the LW community to join its Facebook group, which can be found by searching for “Leisure World Seal Beach Let the Good Times Roll official Doo Wop Club.”
