Friends of the Leisure World Library Bookstore will host a big book sale Sept. 9-10 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Shoppers need to bring their own bag(s); for $2 per bag, they can fill them with any books from inside the store—hardbacks, paperbacks, children’s books, coffee table books, nonfiction, books on CD, etc. Masks are required. The number of customers inside the store will be limited as necessary.

A reent rise in COVID-19 cases has prompted many clubs to cancel meetings and postpone activities. The LW Weekly recommends residents connect with clubs directly before venturing to a regular activity.

On Aug. 13, 12 men and one woman of the Monday-Friday LW Golf League challenged the Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana. It is a 6,000-yard, par-71, 18-hole course that is fairly flat with wide fairways and no water hazards, but there are devilishly placed sand traps and difficult pin placements. This course is marginally maintained, but it has several large practice areas including three large putting/

The Garden Club board of directors has decided to postpone the September general meeting. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution and concern for club members’ safety because of the recent surge in COVID-19 delta variant cases.
