The Leisure World Art League has formally announced a “Call for Entries” for the June 20 Art in Bloom Art Exhibition. The annual, juried art show features creations from Leisure World artists in all mediums. The show will be held in the Clubhouse 3 Lobby from 4-7 p.m. Applications are now available from the Recreation Office in Building 5, or by request via email to lwsb.artleague@gmail.com.

The Karaoke Club holds karaoke parties every Wednesday in Clubhouse 1, beginning at 5:30 p.m. It’s always a packed house, with 35-plus singers and a happy, enthusiastic audience. Hui O Hula offers free hula lessons on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. upstairs in Clubhouse 6; and on Thursdays at 1 p.m. in the conference room next to the Optum Health Care Center. All are welcome. The club will hold a Ho‘ike Party on April 18 at Clubhouse 4 starting at 2 p.m. The event promises an afternoon of hula, live music and dancing. The Dancers & Mixers Club will hold a dance on Tuesday, April 7, in Clubhouse 4 from 7-9. It’s a way to meet new people and get in some light exercise. Live ballroom music is provided by accordionist Linda Herman, who plays music that is optimized for dancing. Whether people know the dance steps or not it doesn’t seem to stop them. The Photo Arts Club will meet April 9 in Clubhouse 3, Room 9, at 1:30 p.m. Bring an iPhone/Android and/or camera. The April assignment is to photograph street art. Photographers should send their three best photos to Ben Benjamins at benbenjamins@hotmail.com by April 6. People can also bring photos of their choice to be displayed and commented on. The Coconut Breeze Club will host a spring fling dance featuring music by the Coconut Breeze Band and guest artists on Friday, March 27, in Clubhouse 4 from 6-9 p.m. The dance will feature a “do the twist” contest. Admission is free and includes refreshments and beverages; or people can bring their own beverages. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
