Community Church

Community Church will look at the end of Genesis 1 on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 9:30 a.m. at 14000 Church Place. This passage is about the creation of humanity in the image of God. In Matthew’s Gospel, the church will look at what it means for all people—regardless of gender or status—to live as kings created in the image of God.

Community Church is grounded as much in science and rational thought as it is in the Scriptures. When Jesus says, “repent and believe,” the congregation hears that as an invitation to go beyond and act.

People may ask “If we’re not being asked to believe in Jesus, what are we being asked to do?” For the Community Church congregation, the answer is: “Follow Jesus.” Jesus never asked people to worship him; he asked them to follow him in his way of justice and compassion. To that end, the church often collects and redistribute food to local charities every month. When it receives donations that the other charities can’t use, it makes the items available to the Leisure World community. Recently, the church received a generous but limited donation of women’s disposable protective undergarments (size XL). Those who are in need of some can come by the church.

People can also join the Community Church Leisure World Facebook page to watch past sermons. Call 562-431-2503 for more information.
