CITY OF SEAL BEACH GRANT

Residents who experience difficulty stepping into or out of their shower may benefit from a completely free bathroom upgrade provided by the City of Seal Beach’s Bathroom Accessibility Grant Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the County of Orange and the City of Seal Beach.

This grant is designed exclusively for Leisure World residents to help convert hard-to-use bathtubs into safe, easy-access showers—all at no cost to qualifying residents.

The upgrades are custom-fit to the existing bathroom and typically include cutting down fiberglass tub for easy shower entry; installing a new glass shower door; adding grab bars or an in-shower bench; and replacing the toilet with a high-boy model.

To qualify, residents must:

• Be aged 55-plus, living in an owner-occupied unit in LW.

• Have annual income under $104,200 for a single-member household; $119,100 for two people (Note: Savings will not disqualify candidates).

• A physician must certify need. CivicStone, which manages the city’s grant program, will assist residents during the application process.

There are four ways to apply: 1. Complete an application online at https://www.civicstone. com/services-4.
