This week, the congregation will reflect on how God is love. He is the heavenly father. People were created in his image with the capacity to love. It may be difficult to understand this truth for those who have experienced broken relationships with their authority figures on earth. The word may bring pain, loneliness, or bitterness. I There is a heavenly father who loves all people and will always be there. Jesus came to show the world what the heavenly father’s love is like. God has both a father- and motherfi gure type of love to give. He has strength and protection like a good father, and tender nurturing qualities of a mother.
All people can come to the heavenly father, open their heart, and experience his embrace. Matthew 7:11 says,“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
