Community Church

On Sunday, May 3, Community Church will look at two passages of scripture, John 14:1-14 and 1 Peter 2:2-10 for the message.

The passage in John’s Gospel is often used at memorial services as a sign of hope that even in death is that there is a place for people with God. No matter what befalls believers, they are never separated from God, unless they try to walk away.

The passage in 1 Peter speaks of one way that believers are always with God: as “living stones.” Pastor Johan Dodge will go through this idea of being a living stone and reflect back upon last week’s passage that described Jesus as the shepherd and the gate in the wall.

This Sunday’s theme is the hummingbird. Just as the butterfly is the most common symbol of new life, the hummingbird is one of the least well known. The seemingly effortless hovering flight of the bird reminds people of divinity, rebirth and adaptability as the hummingbird flies from flower to flower.

As a reminder, the word Gospel means good news. Those looking for a message of encouragement are welcome to join Community Church for a time of worship on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Community Church is located inside Leisure World near St. Andrews Gate at 14000 Church Place. No prior church experience is required. All are welcome who are welcoming to all.
