HUI O HULA On March 15, the Hui O Hula dancers celebrated the group’s 20th anniversary with their families, friends, and the musicians who have supported and played music for the hui throughout the years. Instructor Jojo Weingart is most grateful for her kumu hula (hula teacher) Valerie Lui Kwan who flew in from Honolulu just for the occasion. Kumu Val gave blessings and commenced the celebration

In celebration of Earth Day, the Recreation Department will hold a garden party at the Leisure World Community Gardens on Tuesday, April 22, from 1-4 p.m. All are invited to celebrate with food, music, activities, games and prizes. LAPIDARY AND JEWELRY CLUB The Lapidary and Jewelry Club has a new class in copper enameling that will begin April 2. Enameling is the process of adding finely ground colored glass to pieces of copper, which are then fired in a kiln to make colorful and lasting pieces of wearable or displayable art. Students will learn the proper preparation of the metal and will use various application

LW Bocce Club

LW Bocce Club


The LW Bocce Club held its winter bocce championship finals and party on March 15. There was a huge turnout for the festivities and the competition was amazing. Returning champions Connie Adkins and Paul Shellenberger took home the gold once again playing in the final game against Kristi Martin and Juan Melendez. It was a fun, exciting day with beautiful weather and a picnic following the games. Sign-ups

Cribbage Club

Cribbage Club


The Cribbage Club meets every Tuesday at noon in Clubhouse 1. Refreshments are served each week from noon-12:15 and anyone arriving by 12:15 will be assured a place to play. Yearly dues are $5 and each player pays $1 to play weekly. A total of seven games are played. The club welcomed another new member and looks forward to adding more new players.
