The Leisure World Art League’s June 10 gathering featured Southern California artist Ruben Zavala, who has spent the last 10 years painting California landscapes from Laguna Beach to San Francisco. Zavala’s demonstration gave attendees an extraordinary opportunity to watch the live creation of a new painting, which was presented by Zavala to drawing winner Betty Lucero. GRF WEEKEND DANCES Abilene will host its regular monthly boot scootin’ dance this Saturday, June 28, at Clubhouse 2, starting at 7 p.m. The doors will open, and free dance lessons begin at 6:30.
