The first annual putting tournament of the LW Women’s Golf Club was held July 29, and from all the favorable comments and smiling faces, it seems like it was a rousing success.

Fifty golfers from the Leisure World men’s and women’s golf leagues played in a special shotgun scramble tournament on July 30 at the par 54 Turtle Lake Golf Course. Ten teams of five players teed off at 8 a.m. with the goal to have the lowest gross score of the day.
Special rules for the tournament were:
• Each team member teed off and then it was best ball until the ball
Chess Club
The LW Chess Club meets every Friday in Clubhouse 3, Room 7, from 1-4:30 p.m. Beginners lessons are available. Keep Alzheimer’s and dementia at bay by practicing this strategy game, proven to improve short and long-term memory and critical thinking skills. LW Men’s Golf League
Fifteen members of the Leisure World Men’s Golf League and guest Johnny Villareal competed at the 5,600yard par 71 Meadowlark Golf Course in Huntington Beach on July 25. The weather was initially overcast, but the clouds quickly burnt off and it became a lovely morning to play golf with friends.
