LW Cares Fund distributes first financial awards to residents
The Leisure World Cares Fund issued its first financial awards last week. The awards amount to a subsidy toward a resident’s Mutual homeowner’s fees of $200 per month for a 12-month period. Awards are made to residents who are on low fixed incomes where increases in those fees have stressed their finances and threaten their ability to remain in the community. The American Latino Club celebrated Mexico’s Independence Day at the Sept. 13 meeting. The meeting featured music from the Mariachi Real San Jose, Mexican food by Tacos Factory Restaurant and invited guests Selene Barcelo, deputy consul at the Consulate of Mexico in Santa Ana and her family.
