The novel coronavirus discovered in 2019 (COVID-19) is primarily transmitted by respiratory droplets generated when people cough, sneeze, sing, talk or breathe. This is why the CDC recommends community use of non-valved, multilayer cloth masks to reduce the emission of virus-laden droplets.
