Meals on Wheels of Long Beach Inc. delivers freshly cooked meals Monday-Friday, between 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Deliveries include a hot dinner, cold lunch, dessert and an 8-ounce carton of 1 percent milk. Participants must be aged 60 and older, single parents or unemployed individuals or have disabilities. There are three sites open one day per week at which people may pick up two dinner meals. Qualified applicants must register in advance at www.ocmeals.com.

But this year, Community Church chose to celebrate extended Advent, which is seven weeks of hope instead of four weeks of peace, hope, joy and love. That isn’t to say that peace, joy and love are not important, but in the midst of the pandemic, we chose to focus on hope.
