Community Church
This week, Pastor Johan Dodge will speak on Matthew 4:12-23 with a message titled “Go and Do.” When Jesus began his ministry, he immediately began calling people to leave what they were doing and begin to think and then act different. Matthew’s gospel has the words that began Jesus’ ministry in Matthew 4:19, “Repent for the Kingdom of God has come near.” Matthew likely had Mark’s Gospel to work from, and the author of Mark’s Gospel records the start of Jesus’ ministry with the words “repent and believe.” But there is a problem with modern translation of these words—they are better translated and understood as “go beyond your mind and act!” Matthew’s Jesus is better understood to have said “go beyond your mind, the Kingdom of God is now.” Community Church will look at how believers are to be the hands and feet of Jesus to bring the way of love to the world.
The word gospel means good news and those who could benefit from hearing good news are invited to attend Community Church’s Sunday services at 9:30 a.m. at 14000 Church Place. No prior church experience is required. All are welcome who are welcoming to all.
