Wa-Rite members lose over 18 pounds in one w
eek Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. For support on a weight-loss journey, women are welcome to stop by at 8:15 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.
On March 6, members learned that the club lost 18.5 pounds in the past week. Two people tied for the biggest loser title—Bea Quintana and Phyllis Spencer with a 3-pound loss each. Spencer said she ate more protein and wrote down everything else that she ate to track down her calories. Quintana, who also reached her master’s degree in weight loss, said eating dinner early and not snacking after 5 p.m. works for her.
The first meeting of the month is for the club to sum up individual weight loss results from the month before. Recordkeeper Darleen Gardner informed everyone that the queen of the month was Betty Vanderwal with a 4.5-pound loss. Other members who lost the most weight were: Joy Nasser, 4 pounds; Shirlene Bradrick, 3 pounds; Annette Canale, 3 pounds; Kathleen Hessley, 3 pounds; and Marshia Larson, 3 pounds. Members who attended every week with no gain were: Maureen Baker, Annette Canale, Nasser and Nancy Pomicter.
Kathy Moran, a degreed member of the club, was a double winner for the months of January and February. Moran always says: “It pays to lose!”
The weekly food for thought was: “Small tweaks add up to big results over time.”
