Community Church
Christmas is just around the corner, which can be a difficult time for those who are going through it alone. Those who are looking to belong in a progressive and welcoming place can join Community Church’s on Thursday, Dec. 11, for a time of fellowship and prayer called “Blue Christmas.” Elvis may not make an appearance, but the love of God certainly will. No prior church experience is required. Those who have felt excluded by the church in the past are invited to join.
Those looking a traditional Sunday worship experience can join the church at 9:50 a.m. every Sunday at 14000 Church Place.
Community Church continues its Advent series and study of Paul’s letter to Rome and Matthew’s Gospel, with a look at harmony and dissonance— how do believers work toward harmony amidst the cacophony? Jesus is the way, but there is perhaps more to it than just platitudes.
During this busy season, Pastor Johan Dodge invites residents to try listening to sound bath/singing bowl videos. He recently participated in a meditation class with one of his seminary professors, who opened the online class to alumni which included sound bath healing through the use of singing bowls. Anyone who has a smartphone can try a meditation app that provides sound bath healing. Dodge has tried many over the years and would be happy to recommend one to those who are interested.
