Open enrollment underway until Dec. 7

MEDICARE

Medicare open enrollment began Oct. 15. Recipients have until Dec. 7 to make changes to their Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug plans. Any changes will take effect Jan. 1, 2026.

“With Baby Boomers turning 65 this year, there are more people on Medicare now than there are people in the workforce paying into Medicare,” said Medicare broker Sandra Teel, adding that the system is running a deficit. “Advantage Plans are receiving less money from Medicare and have had to reduce extra benefits and in some cases cancel certain plans altogether.”

For these reasons, it’s especially important for beneficiaries to compare plan options to ensure their coverage still meets their medical and financial needs.
