Velvetones will perform Sept. 7

The Velvetones Ballroom Dance Orchestra is Leisure World’s own professional big band, playing big band swing and jazz standards. The orchestra returns to Clubhouse 4 on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 6-9 p.m. The Velvetones play regularly at Clubhouse 4 on the first and third Sunday evenings.

The Velvetones signature is big band sound, that uniquely American combination of reeds, brass, and rhythm which defined the nation’s popular music for more than three decades and which still pervades the public consciousness.

Vinyl Rock will perform Saturday, Sept. 13 in Clubhouse 4 at 7 p.m. All are welcome but guests must be accompanied by the resident who invites them. This month, Angel Connection Nursing Services will sponsor the performance. Residents are encouraged to stop by their table, greet them and learn more about the services they offer.

Based on resident feedback, Vinyl Rock Band’s dance performances will now be at a much lower volume so that attendees can enjoy having a nice conversation when they’re not out on the dance floor Country rock and line dancing on Sept. 27

Abilene is Seal Beach Leisure World’s No. 1 country rock band going strong for 22 years. The band features Andre Dusomme on guitar and vocals, Jim Greer on drums, Vickie Van Ert on vocals, Greg Johnson on keyboards and vocals, and Bob McAlister on bass and vocals.

The band has incorporated some new sounds and new artists to add to the excitement. The band will perform Saturday, Sept. 27, in Clubhouse 2. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the music goes until 9. Free dance lessons precede the performance, starting at 6:30.
