The Bible is the gospel story from cover to cover; recalling the Christian hope of glory. The opening words, “In the beginning God,” tell how the creator made mankind in God’s image and likeness and showered him with love and blessings. God gave man a test of love and warned him of solemn judgment for disloyalty and disobedience. Leisure World Baptist Church will study this fall from God’s grace in Clubhouse 4 at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31.

When man deserted broke his friendship with God, it brought down God’s holy wrath on himself and God’s creation:“By one man sin entered the world and death through sin, and so death passed upon all men, for all sinned.” But from the beginning God was the peacemaker and lover of his creation. God promised he would send a faultless man to redeem his fallen creation.

Jesus came “from heaven to earth to show the way; from the earth to the cross man’s debt to pay; from the cross to the grave from the grave to the sky” to provide forgiveness and eternal life to those who put their trust in him. The Apostle Paul summarizes, “God demonstrates his own love for us in this that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
