America First Republican Club members continue to collect signatures to get the Voter ID Proposition Petition on the state-wide ballot in 2026. The day after the Prop. 50 Special Election, the backers of the voter ID initiative announced that a record breaking 500,000-plus signatures have been collected of the required 874,641 needed. That’s over 500,000 signatures in just five weeks.

Club members are continuing to collect signatures on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9-11 a.m. in front of Clubhouse 6. Visitors and all Republicans are encouraged to stop by and sign the petition.

Upon passage, the Voter ID Proposition will result in a state constitutional amendment that requires a voter ID for casting a ballot in each election. It holds state election officials accountable to verify the citizenship of registered voters and to keep accurate voter rolls.

The Public Opinion Strategies’ poll found 93% of Republican respondents supported voter ID, as well as 52% who identified as Democrats. In addition, 95% of Republican respondents support citizenship verification, as well as 69% who identified as Democrats. The club will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 19, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, with a social time starting at 4:30 p.m. and the business meeting at 5. The meeting this month will have a potluck dinner with members bringing their favorite entree, vegetable, salad or dessert to share during the social time. Visitors or prospective members are always welcome.

The America First Republican Club’s mission is to educate, engage, and activate members in their duty as citizens, including working to elect like-minded candidates to local, state, and federal offices.
