Shuffleboard Club

There were witches, pumpkins, a hula girl, a disco duo, a scary spider, a gap mouthed goblin and a flapper among some 30 members and guests who gathered in Clubhouse 1 on Oct. 25 to kick off Halloween with the Shuffleboard Club. A large backdrop was festooned with tangled webs, skeletons, bats and scarecrows, thanks to the creativity of member Sally Foster. A bouquet of black roses adorned each table. Another reason to celebrate that evening was the 56th wedding anniversary of longtime members Linda and Bob Peterson.

There will be no general membership meetings in November or December, but players can look forward to the annual Turkey Shoot on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 3-5 p.m. It is a chance to bend the rules of the game. As an example, one of the lanes will be devoted to scoring on the lines instead of the usual rule of scoring within the lines.

Tuesday, Oct. 21 results: Team Sally beat Team Karen 7-5. Team Bob skunked Team Harold 9-3. All game winners were Lynn Baidack, Sandy Derouin, Sally Fowler, Lynne Haines, Karen Mendon, Bob Peterson, Connie Terry and Jesus Sosa.

Thursday, Oct. 23 results: Team Lynne edged by Team Jack. Team Micki buried Team Karen 10-2. All-game winners were Kathryn Ewell, Barbara Gardner, Judy Hulin, Rod Leebrick, Bob Peterson and Kirk Smith.

Friday, Oct. 24 results: Team Shel outshone Team Carol 9-3. Team Patti crushed Team Rod 9-3. All-game winners were Lee Broadbent, Sally Fowler, Doris Morton, Sal LaScala, Linda Peters and Ellie West.
