Leisure World Cares Fund sets parameters for aid Leisure World Cares Fund sets parameters for aid

The Leisure World Cares Fund introduced itself to the community at the June 27 Life Options Expo. Since then, there has been a lot of support expressed for its mission to help provide housing security to Leisure World’s most vulnerable.

Overwhelmingly, people want to know how the fund will ensure that the right residents will get the aid they need. Addressing that question was the topic of the Fund’s Client Services Committee, which met for the first time on July 18 along with other board members and the general public. During the meeting, the following general principles were established:

• All of the standard non-discrimination standards will be adhered to.

• Aid commitments will not exceed $200 per month for a period of 12 months, which will be renewable after an annual review.

• Funds will be paid directly to GRF and credited to the client’s obligations.

• Only donations that are in hand or committed for the next 12 months will be provided as aid.

• Repayment of aid will be an option, not a requirement. The next steps for the committee are to finalize a client application form and interview process. It is anticipated that applications for aid will increase after the 2026 assessments are announced in December.
