Tournament Poker Club
Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in can make plans to play with the Tournament Poker Club on Saturday, July 5. Regular tournaments are on the first three Saturdays of every month and start with coffee/treats and registration at 10 a.m. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.
The club held its June Casino Tournament on June 21. A record 66 players started the tournament, where the game was No Limit from the beginning. Several players busted out early but play continued until there were only eight of the best of the best.
The final table players were: Bob Konier, first place; Norm Yergeau, second; Nancy Floyd, third; Lem Hall, fourth; Nita Doyan, fifth; Carol Domoci, sixth; Stanley Fong, seventh; Harry Sera, eighth.
In the final hand of the match, Konier was holding Q-2 of hearts and Yergeau had a pair of 6s. The flop came 8–5-10 hearts—Konier had flopped a flush. Yergeau went all in with his 6s and was called by Konier. The turn was a 7 of clubs, and the river was a Q of spades. Neither of the final cards helped Yergeau and gave Konier the win with a heart flush. The club congratulates Konier for winning the June 2025 Casino Tournament.
Konier has lived in Leisure World and been a member of the poker club for 16 years. This was his fifth final table win. Konier also won the Player of the Year tournament earlier this year. In addition to playing poker, he also enjoys traveling in his RV—which is good because he is president of the RV Club in Leisure World.
