Club members participate in ‘No Kings Day’ Club members participate in ‘No Kings Day’

The LW Democratic Club and Seniors for Peace Club hosted LW’s successful “No Kings Day” event with over 300 participants. Leisure World residents, families and friends peacefully demonstrated in front of the Globe. Participators carried poignant signs while cars honked, and passengers cheered.

The Democratic Club will join the Democratic Party of Orange County in sponsoring a float for Huntington Beach’s 121st Annual Fourth of July parade, which has been described as “the biggest Fourth of July Parade west of the Mississippi.” The parade is located at Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway, spanning 2.5 miles and includes classic cars, the Huntington Beach high school cheerleaders and more. People who are interested in watching the parade are encouraged to get there early to stake out a spot.

The club’s Voter Education meeting series is hosted on the second Wednesday of the month from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., in Clubhouse 3, Room 3, on July 9. This session will include a moving tribute to the Holocaust with the film “Paper Clips.” While reservations are not necessary it’s a good idea to get there early. The Democratic Club’s next membership meeting will be on Wednesday, July 23, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 1:30 p.m. All current and potential members are invited to arrive as early as 12:30 to socialize with other residents. Club members who are unable to attend in person can join the meeting by Zoom, by emailing lwsbdemocraticclub@gmail.com

All interested Leisure World Democrats and supporters are can visit the club’s hospitality booth outside Clubhouse 6 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., every first Tuesday and third Thursday of the month. People can enjoy the opportunity to visit with like-minded individuals, register to vote, change registration and sign up to become a club member and receive the semi-monthly newsletter. As of printing, the club newsletter is behind schedule, but will be updated as soon as possible.
