All residents are welcome to attend the LW Genealogy Club meeting on May 28 at 10 a.m. Social time starts at 9:30. The meeting will feature an in-person presentation by Cheri Mello titled “Reverse Genealogy: How those TV shows do it.”

Genealogists are taught to start with themselves and work their way back in time. Learn how to work with an ancestral couple and trace their descendants, coming forward in time—just like it is done on television shows, for those searching for lost family members. Finding a distant cousin may be the clue to solving a family mystery.

Mello began her active adult research over 30 years ago, after the death of her remaining grandparents. Thirteen years ago, she became involved in DNA and was recruited as the Project Administrator for the Azores DNA Project. She runs five DNA projects. Theme Thursdays are held from 1:30-2 p.m. in the Genealogy Library. On May 15, Linda Bewley will present “Chill: A recipe for genealogy research?” On May 22, Teri Charlesworth will speak. On May 29, the club will have a “Chew and Chat,” where people are encouraged to bring a treat to share.

The Genealogy Library is open Monday-Friday from 1- 4 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and closed Sunday.

To volunteer, call 714-3904213 or email lisnhow@gmail. com. The club desperately needs more backup volunteers.
