The Difference Between GRF and Mutuals The Difference Between GRF and Mutuals

The Golden Rain Foundation (GRF) is a nonprofit corporation that holds community facilities in trust for Mutual Corporations and serves, through management agreements, Leisure World’s 16 Mutual Corporations and their residents.

The Golden Rain Foundation Board drafts policy that governs the management of Trust property for the Mutuals. It also oversees the functions of the GRF executive director, who in turn oversees all GRF departments and staff serving the community.

Leisure World’s 16 Mutual Corporations are separate entities, each with jurisdiction over its own land and buildings. Each Mutual board establishes and enforces the governing documents for its Mutual. Directors volunteer their time. Monthly board meetings are held by each Mutual board. Shareholders may attend their Mutuals’ monthly meetings, where they are given an opportunity to speak on Mutual issues.

Residents can refer to the 2025-26 Leisure World Community Guide, which was delivered to every doorstep in March, for information and explanations on a variety of topics. There is a dedicated section on Community Basics to help new residents understand Leisure World Seal Beach’s unique community structure.

The Community Guide is also available online at www. lwsb. com/ publications. New members receive a copy of the guide in their new member packets, and people can pick up a copy at the LW Weekly Office between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on weekdays.
