SALVATION ARMY

The Salvation Army will collect donations at the Leisure World Amphitheater on Saturday, April 12, from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

The Golden Age Foundation is now in charge of the event. At its March board meeting, the nonprofit decided to hold the event every other month. After Saturday’s event, the next donation collections will be held on the second Saturday of the months of June, August and December, at the same place and time as April’s event.

The Salvation Army donation events were created to reduce the number of bulky furniture items dropped off at the 1.8-Acre recycling area, and thus reduce expenses related to emptying the roll-off bins.

The Salvation Army accepts donations of small to medium furniture and household goods. Donated items must be clean, undamaged, and in salable condition. Donations must be brought to the trucks. Donation bags are available at all clubhouses, the LW Library and the News Office.
