Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore

On Sunday, May 11 the congregations of Redeemer Lutheran Church and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church will celebrate the fourth Sunday of Easter with Rev. Murray D. Finck, presiding. The lesson reader will be Carol Costello and the prayer leader will be Nancy Anderson. The service is held at 13564 St. Andrews Drive at 10:30 a.m.

Fellowship will continue afterward in the Fellowship Hall with coffee, tea cookies and snacks. As always, the congregations continue to collect food donations of canned and boxed foods for the hungry.

The Gospel lesson this week is from John 10:22-30. Jesus is at the Temple and, again, is being questioned about “who are you?” This passage is one of the few occasions where Jesus states outright that he and God the Father are one. This passage is also a challenge for believers. While Jesus promises his sheep eternal life, it requires them to hear his voice, listen and follow him. Believers need to distinguish Jesus’ voice over all the other ones they hear ,including family, friends, society, and their own selfishness.
