LW Assembly of God
1 John 2:15-17 contrasts following one’s own cravings and doing what pleases God. The old phrase, “seeking worldly pleasure,” is still relevant. Distraction can easily defeat one’s best intentions, thus an immediate satisfaction is more often preferred over delayed return, even when the outcome is better. This Scripture clearly promises that those who seek to please God above their own desires will be rewarded. This Sunday, Pastor Chuck Franco will pose the question “Does He Really Mean It?”
Wednesday Bible study will bring this series to a close with “What is a Christian?” by Francis Chan. Though the answer seems obvious, the diverse ways people who claim to be Christians behave makes one to wonder exactly what being a Christian means, which leads students to explore scripture, the foundation for truth. The video lesson will explain the essential truth in easy-to-understand terms, followed by guided discussion and interaction, giving people a comfortable forum to ask questions and explore biblical truth.
