LW mosquito samples test positive for West Nile virus

For the second time since June 16, mosquito samples collected in Leisure World from July 18-29 tested positive for West Nile virus, according to the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District. Officials are warning that this year could see a record number of West Nile virus positive mosquito samples.

During mosquito season, the flood channel that runs along Golden Rain Road is treated with larvicide every 10-14 days. The channel will be cleared of vegetation and debris by OC Public Works in the coming weeks. Residents are urged to wear mosquito repellent when outdoors and dump standing water.
