First Christian Church
First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine” Romans 1:12.
Pastor’s Message
King David’s life was filled with turmoil both from enemies and from his own transgressions. The Psalms he wrote reflect the conversations he had with God asking for protection from his enemies, strength to overcome, wisdom, forgiveness and much more.
Psalm 18 was written to thank God “after the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies.” The Psalm begins with David saying, “I love you, O Lord, my strength. My God, my rock, my shield, my stronghold.” He reflected on the goodness of God in verse 18-19 saying, “But the Lord was my stay, he rescued me, because he delighted in me.”
David knew his life and successes were due to God’s support through all things. He wrote in verse 30-31, “The Word of the Lord is tried; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock except our God.”
David pointed out Gods many benefits were not just available to kings, but to all people. The closing in verse 46 states a profound truth about God:“The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock.” The thing that separates Christianity from all other religions is that Jesus rose from the dead and lives and continues to be a stronghold.
