LW Cares Fund
Leisure World Cares Fund President Nick Massetti spoke at the Orange County Supervisor’s at the meeting on June 9. He stood up to urge them to return to the First District the funds recovered from former First District Supervisor Andrew Do’s fraud prosecution. Seal Beach is in the First Supervisorial District. The misspent funds were originally intended to support causes in District 1, such as preventing homelessness among seniors. Over 150 others also stood up and made similar recommendations.
The Leisure World Cares Fund aims to prevent Leisure World residents who are on low fixed incomes from being pushed out of the community by rising HOA fees. As such the fund would be a potential recipient of a portion of the returned funds.
Later that day to the relief of many, the supervisors voted unanimously to return the recovered funds to the First District.
