GRF will offer free rides to and from weekend dances all summer long

SUMMER PILOT PROGRAM

This summer, the GRF Transportation Department will conduct a three-month pilot program that will offer on-call bus rides to and from GRF-sponsored weekend dances—which include monthly performances by Vinyl Rock, the Velvetones and Abilene.

From June through August, residents who wants ride to a dance can call 562-472-1367 when they’re ready to be picked up.

An on-call shuttle will meet them at their location and take them to the dance venue. Passengers can be picked up at any location in Leisure World.

Riders should note that the trial period does not currently include Access Bus service.

Additional bus service may be considered depending on the demand for the service. Standard minibuses do not include wheelchair lifts, but they do include a step-up ladder for anyone who has difficulty reaching the height of the bus steps.

At the end of the dances, shuttles will return riders to their units. The final shuttles will depart from each dance at 9:20 p.m.

GRF Minibus Weekly Service Hours Leisure World’s on-call bus service is available Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

The Access Bus, which includes a wheelchair lift, is available weekdays from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; Saturdays from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m.; and Sundays from 8 a.m.2 p.m.
