Wa-Rite loses 26 pounds and celebrates its winners
Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Fridays from 9-10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. For support on a weight-loss journey, women are welcome to stop by at 8:15 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.
On Aug. 7, Wa-Rite’s recordkeeper Darlene Gardner shared that the club lost a total of 26 pounds. Henrietta Peavy was named the biggest loser with a 3.5-pound loss. She credits her achievement to consuming meals in small portions and before 5 p.m.
Aug. 7 was Wa-Rite’s accountability meeting on members’ achievements in the prior month. Cheri Ramirez was crowned as queen of the month. She adhered to small, late lunches low in carbs and high in vegetables and protein, and ate her last meal by 7 p.m.

Bea Quintana (l-r), Henrietta Peavy, Cheri Ramirez and Shirlene Bradrick Degreed winner Sharlene Bradrick said she eats what she wants on the weekends but is very careful during the week.
Three members who lost the most weight were: Carol Stock, 7 pounds; Cheri Ramirez, 5.5 pounds; and Susan Miller, 5 pounds.
Members who attended every week with no gain were Bea Quintana, Cheri Ramirez and Jeanette Williams. No members reached their goals in the past month.
The weekly food for thought was: “Obstacles are things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.”
