Leisure World Korea Community Church hosted the DLIO Worship group at its Aug. 16 service. DLIO Worship is a Korean group specializing in praise music infused with Korean traditional elements. They led a special time of worship that harmonized Korean traditional culture with the Christian faith.
The group sang praise songs that captured the unique sentiment and beauty of Korea by reimagining western contemporary Christian music and traditional hymns through the exquisite melodies of gugak (Korean traditional music).
By rearranging beloved hymns of the older generation with modern musical styles and traditional Korean instruments, DLIO Worship created a meaningful opportunity for the younger generations to connect with traditional hymns and carry on the faith.
The twelve-member team used traditional Korean instruments to perform five songs including “The Goodness of the Lord,” offering their praise to God.
“This special worship service was more than just a musical performance,” said senior Pastor Jang Young-Yang. “It was a precious act of worship where our traditional culture and faith came together to glorify God and a blessed time for all the saints to once again take to heart God’s goodness and the grace of his calling.”
