Over 200 Leisure World residents were treated to a selection of ice cream treats outside Clubhouse 2 by the Golden Age Foundation (GAF) on May 3. Novelty ice cream items were provided from the sliding service window of the brightly colored ice cream truck with many choices available.

Standing outside the ice cream truck on that cool spring day was reminiscent of happy childhood memories from early spring through late summer when the local ice cream truck came through the neighborhood. On this day however, waves of senior citizens ogled over the selection, trying to decide which ice cream cup or bar to choose; it was a joyful sight to see. Once their choices were made, residents went inside the clubhouse to select treats and toppings to add to the experience and sit down at brightly decorated tables to share the afternoon with friends and neighbors. A prominent poster was hung on the wall near the stage with a nice selection of props available for residents to snap selfies to commemorate the day.

Additionally, the poster display from the GAF 50th anniversary celebration and programs were available for those who missed out on the event April 22. Members of the GAF Board of Directors hosted the event and visited with residents as they enjoyed their ice cream. A table was set up for residents interested in joining the GAF and, or signing up for the Ralphs Community Rewards Program, which is currently the only fundraising activity the GAF has.
