The SBLW Democratic Club will meet on Wednesday, May 24, in Clubhouse 3, Room 9, at 1 p.m. Club members and supporters can join the meeting in person, online or by phone. Isabel Ocampo, an experienced fundraiser with a demonstrated history of working on political campaigns will be the guest speaker.

Ocampo graduated from Barnard College with a degree in Spanish and Latin American studies with specialization in political science. She is skilled in social media, writing, fundraising and development. She has also worked on a number of political campaigns and is currently serving as the finance director at Dave Min for Congress.

Login information to participate in the meeting via Zoom can be obtained by emailing sblwdemocraticclub@ gmail. com.

Plans are also currently underway to restart the SBLW Democratic Club’s “Voter Awareness Series” sessions. These monthly informal gatherings are scheduled to begin on either the first or third Wednesday of July at 1 p.m., depending on room availability. It will continue at least until after the March 2024 primary election.

All LW Democrats and supporters— regardless of whether they are current members—are invited to attend one or all of these free voter awareness sessions. However, because of the size of the rooms in Clubhouse 3, attendance will be limited. Reservations for each individual session are encouraged, preferably by email.

The overall goal of the series is to increase the turn-out of potential voters in the primary who are well informed and knowledgeable about the issues, as well as about the views of candidates running in “downballot” races.

The first session will include alerting voters as to how they can be involved in the political process of electing good candidates if they desire to do so.

••• The SBLW Democratic Club’s information and registration booth outside Clubhouse 6 is open on the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30 a.m.12:30 p.m. People can stop by the booth to show support, get more information about club activities or register to vote.

For more in-depth reporting on issues and candidates, Democrats and their supporters can subscribe to the club’s free electronic newsletter by emailing democraticclubsblw@gmail. com or calling 562-296-8521. People are asked to include their full contact information as well as party affiliation when signing up.
