Tournament Poker Club to play on April 4 in CH 6
Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in can play with the Tournament Poker Club on Saturday, April 4, in Clubhouse 6. Regular tournaments are on the first three Saturdays of every month and start with registration at 10 a.m. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.
At the tournament on Feb. 14, there were about 70 players ready to play and have a great time. High hand winners were George Casto (4-4-4-4-3), Shel Magnuson (K-K-K-Q-Q) and Ray Lim (J-J-J-10-10). Jack Pfeifer won a prize for playing and winning with the promo hand of 2-9.
As the winners of their original table, the final table players were: Jeff Rolnick, first place; Ray Lim, second; Don Williams, third; Terry Watson, fourth; Mike Gass, fifth; Anne Wilkerson, sixth; Guta Basner, seventh; Terry Gonzalez, eighth; and Frank Sablan, ninth.
Play continued at the final table until Rolnick and Lim were heads up. In the final hand of the match, Lim was holding King of clubs and King of hearts. Rolnick had six of diamonds and eight of diamonds. The flop came six of spades, seven of clubs, six of clubs. Rolnick was ahead with three sixes but Lim had a pair of Kings with two cards to come. The turn was a Jack of diamonds, which was no help to either player. The river was an eight of hearts, which gave Rolnick the win with a full house (6-6-6-8-8).
Rolnick has lived in Leisure World for seven years and has been a member of the club for six years. This was his sixth final table win. Besides tournament poker, Rolnick plays regularly in several other smaller games. He also plays pickleball and enjoys hiking and going to the beach.
