LW Arirang Club
The LW Arirang Club meets Sundays upstairs in Clubhouse 6 from 4-7 p.m. From 4-5 p.m., members practice Korean folk dance, followed by janggu practice for the remainder of the meeting.
The club is currently recruiting new students for a beginner’s class. An advanced class will be available for members who have practiced with the club for several months. The club is open to all residents. English is spoken most of the time, and the club has five non-Korean members.
Playing the janggu helps participants improve muscle coordination, memory and cognitive function. Drummers express different emotions through playing soft, slow, fast or strong. Playing includes standing, sitting, marching, upper body extension and swinging one’s arms in unison with leader. Instructor Young Park has over 30 years of experience.
For more information or to join, contact Young Park at 909-580-0590, or Joann Lim 909-762-5393.
Arirang Club members performed at the Golden Age Foundation's Multicultural Festival on July 18.
