Concerned Shareholders

The Concerned Shareholders Club will meet Thursday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. All Leisure World residents are welcome.

The club’s Aug. 27 meeting featured guest speaker Forouz Ertl, who drew on her professional experience to give a presentation about the importance of choosing vitamins that have appropriate quality and purity standards.

The Concerned Shareholders Club also is in the preliminary stages of exploring water conservation ideas for Leisure World. One possibility discussed at the meeting was the use of collection devices, such as rain barrels connected to gutter downspouts, to capture rainwater for appropriate landscape and gardening uses.

Club members hope that the project could become a community-wide effort involving other clubs, residents and the various areas of Leisure World. In addition to its potential water-saving benefits, members believe it could be an enjoyable civic project that encourages community participation.

Several other ideas were presented during the discussion. The club plans to compile the suggestions into a proposal for consideration by the Golden Rain Foundation.

Residents who are interested in community service, conservation and improving Leisure World are encouraged to attend the next meeting and get involved.
