LW Men’s Golf League

Sixteen members of the Leisure World men’s golf league started their round at the David L. Baker Executive Golf Course in Fountain Valley on Aug. 17 under sunny skies with high humidity. By round’s end the temperatures were in the upper 80s. A light wind made the later round bearable, but the last hole was a welcome end to the round.

Fifteen of the 16 golfers scored at or below net par, and there were five birdies—two each by Larry Hillhouse and Dave LaCascia and one by Steve Earl. The two closest to the pin challenges were won by Chris Lankford on hole No. 3, and Hillhouse on No. 12. Sam Choi and Tom Ross had fewest putts for the round.

A flight winners (handicaps of 1-19): Hillhouse, first place; LaCascia and Fujio Norihiro, second; Choi and Earl, third; Gary Stivers, fourth; Bruno Santillo, fifth; Jim Goltra, Kyle Van, Chris Lankford and Clay Fisher, sixth.

B flight winners (handicaps of 20 and higher): Tom Ross, first place; Bob Munn, second; Randy Massaro, third; Mike Jimenez, fourth; Ron Jackson, fifth.

The league plays every Monday at one of four local courses. Advance league reservations are required with a sign up sheet available at each round.
